ABOUT ORANGE LILLY

At Orange Lilly Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy, safe, compassionate, and positive therapeutic support is offered to help clients regain balance, resilience, and emotional wellbeing. Using a combination of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and psychotherapy techniques, sessions are designed to calm the nervous system, gently process trauma, and support lasting positive change without the need to relive painful memories.

Hypnotherapy is suitable for anyone with an open mind and a willingness to make positive changes. Sessions are tailored to each individual, helping clients better understand themselves, improve emotional wellbeing, and build healthier patterns of thinking and behaviour.

Hypnotherapy has been recognised as a valid therapeutic treatment since 1955, when the British Medical Association acknowledged its clinical value, followed by recognition from the American Medical Association in 1958. Since then, it has been widely used to support people experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, sleep difficulties, pain management, habits, behavioural change, and emotional wellbeing. Hypnotherapy can help relieve existing difficulties, change unwanted beliefs and behaviours, and enhance confidence, motivation, and personal potential.

Understanding the Brain and Emotional Wellbeing

Modern neuroscience helps us understand how the brain responds to stress, trauma, and everyday life experiences.

The intellectual part of the brain often referred to as the “thinking brain”  allows us to reason, problem solve, and make balanced decisions. The subconscious or primitive brain is designed to protect us from danger. When a threat is perceived, whether real or imagined, the primitive brain activates survival responses such as anxiety, anger, depression, fight, flight, or freeze.

While these responses are essential in genuinely dangerous situations, spending prolonged periods in a heightened stress state can lead to negative thinking patterns and emotional overwhelm. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy often describes this accumulation of stress as a “stress bucket.” When stress and negative thinking build up over time, the bucket can overflow, resulting in anxiety, hypervigilance, poor concentration, low mood, obsessive thinking, and difficulty coping.
